I completed the eCompanion/Web Enhancement access form but have
not received my confirmation email.
If you used your Eastern Michigan University email account, make sure that your mailbox is not over quota. An over quota mailbox will not accept any additional messages and will prevent you from receiving your confirmation email.
Just because your inbox is empty does not mean that your mailbox is empty.You must empty your trash periodically. Click the folders link and then the Empty Trash button to free up space for messages.
If you used a Yahoo, AOL, Hotmail, Excite or other similar mail
system, check your Bulk/Junk Mail folder as the message may have
been misinterpreted as SPAM.
I forgot my UserID and/or Password for www.emuonline.edu.
How do I update my www.emuonline.edu email
address.

I
receive an authentication error when trying to access my
course's calendar.
To alleviate this error, please change the following settings:
Internet Explorer:
Go to the Tools menu at the top of the browser, and click on
Internet Options.
Click the Privacy tab at the top of this window.
Click on the Edit button. If you do not see an Edit button, click
the Sites button.
Enter the following web address into the top field:
http://calendar.ecollege.com
Click on the Allow button
Please make sure your Cookie Settings on the Privacy tab are
set as Low.
Safari (Mac)
Open the Safari browser. If you do not see the Safari icon in
your Dock, you can open it by opening Finder, then going to Applications,
then double-clicking the Safari icon, which looks like a blue
compass.
Click the Safari menu at the top of the screen then click Preferences
Click on the Security button at the top of the Preferences box
On the Security page that appears, uncheck the option to "Block
pop-up windows"
Under the area that says "Accept Cookies", make sure
that the "Always" option is selected.
Close the preferences box then return to the login page and log
in again.
I have used an eCompanion/Web Enhancement for previous courses.
When I log into www.emuonline.edu,
I do not see my course(s) for the current semester.
Do I have to pay to access my eCompanion/Web Enhancements?
eCompanion/Web Enhancements are completely free to EMU students.
Why did I receive a session timeout error?
As a security precaution, all inactive accounts are logged off
after 35 minutes.
Can I access my EMU-Online classes from any computer?
You
can access www.emuonline.edu from
any computer that has a functioning Internet connection.
Can I access EMU-Online with a telephone modem?
Yes, the course environment and content has been optimized for
any Internet connection.
How do I view feedback from my instructor?
If your instructor uses the grade book tool, you will be able
to view your score and comments (if posted) by clicking your
grade for a particular item. You may also find feedback in the
threaded discussions.
How do I clear my temporary Internet cache files?
Internet Explorer
Go to a web page other than your School pages, and make sure
only one Internet Explorer window is open on your computer.
Go to the Tools menu at the top of the browser, and choose Internet
Options.
Click on the Delete Files button under Temporary Internet Files.
Click OK in the next dialogue box.
Close Internet Explorer and restart your computer.
Netscape Navigator
Go to a web page other than your School pages, and make sure
only one Netscape window is open on your computer.
Click on the Edit menu at the top of the browser, and choose
Preferences.
Look on the left hand side of this window for the word Advanced.
If you can see the word Cache under Advanced, click on the word
Cache.
If you do not see the word Cache under Advanced, click on the
arrow to the left of the word Advanced.
Click the Clear Memory and Clear Disk buttons.
Close Netscape and re-open a new Netscape window.
Safari (Mac)
Go to a web page other than your School pages, and make sure
only one Safari window is open on your computer.
Click on the Safari menu at the top of your screen.
Click on the Empty Cache option.
Quit Safari and reopen a new Safari.
Netscape Navigator (Mac)
Go to a web page other than your School pages, and make sure
only one Netscape window is open on your computer.
Click on the Netscape menu at the top of your screen and select
Preferences.
Look on the left hand side of this window for the word Advanced.
If you can see the word Cache under Advanced, click on the word
Cache.
If you do not see the word Cache under Advanced, click on the
arrow to the left of the word Advanced.
Click the Clear Memory and Clear Disk buttons.
Click the Clear Disk Cache Now button.
Quit Netscape and reopen a new Netscape window.
Internet Explorer (Mac)
Go to a web page other than your School pages, and make sure
only one Internet Explorer window is open on your computer.
Click on the Explorer menu at the top of your window and select
Preferences.
Scroll down the left side and highlight the word Advanced.
Click on the Empty Now button.
Quit Internet Explorer and reopen a new Internet Explorer window.
I am unable to print all of my Power Point slides.
Unless your instructor has placed the PPT file in Doc Sharing,
you will not be able to download and print all of the slides
automatically.
When I press the print button on my browser, the navigation
column prints. How do I print the main content window?
Since the system uses frames, the most recently activated (clicked)
window prints. Click anywhere in the content window and press
print. You can also print by placing your mouse over the window
you want to print and press the right mouse button to use the
print option from the shortcut menu.
When I log into www.emuonline.edu I
receive a blank page.
Make
sure your browser is tuned for the system. Go to www.emuonline.edu,
press the helpdesk link and perform the browser test. Also, clear
all cookies and cache files from
your browser.
How do I send an email to my instructor (or classmates)?
Within
each course, you will find an email tab on the course toolbar.
Choose the person that
you would like to send a message to and add them to the
recipient window. As a courtesy, all
messages are automatically sent to you as well.
The instructor wants me to turn in a paper online. How do I
do that?
Most
assignments are turned into the Drop Box. Click on the Drop
Box tab at the top of your screen and click “submit
an assignment”. Attach the
file and choose the appropriate
basket for the assignment.

How do I access the student tutorial?
The
student tutorial appears as AU + Student Orientation Tutorial
on your course list in http://www.emuonline.edu; it will be the first link beneath the Special Courses Header.
How do I change my password?
To
change your password, log into http://www.emuonline.edu.
Click on the “Home PSH” tab at the top-left of the
screen, click on the “user profile” link.
Type your new password twice and
click update. It will take 30 minutes
for your password to change in the system.
